Elliptical vs Treadmill

Elliptical machines and treadmills can be seen as two different members of the same fitness equipment family. An elliptical vs treadmill comparison may not seem very logical at first since they are of the same family because they both are basically cardio equipments and serve the same final purpose of strengthening the cardiovascular system, burning fat and losing weight. Today, any professional fitness trainer who knows what they’re doing would tell you that there are virtually no differences between an elliptical and a treadmill in terms of fat burning and weight loss. As long as you maintain the target heart rate while working out with either machine you will have similar results.

One the other hand, they are different for a couple of reasons which may impact your final choice. First of all, treadmills mostly work your legs, while elliptical machines provide a more all-rounder exercise routine, meaning they will help you work different muscle groups. When working out with an elliptical (also known as cross trainer), you will also work your back, shoulders, arms and chest in contrast to treadmills. Now, without further due, here is our elliptical vs treadmill comparison. Read more…

Elliptical Machine Benefits

Elliptical machines were once nowhere near treadmills in terms of popularity as fitness equipment. Treadmills were always the first choice both as home fitness equipment and as the most used equipment in fitness centers. But the benefits of elliptical machines slowly begun to be apparent, and more and more people and gyms started to lean towards elliptical trainers for these benefits.

Elliptical machines (also known as elliptical trainers or cross trainers) have one distinct benefit and advantage over treadmills. Instead of only working the lower body, they work the upper and lower body at once, providing unique benefits in terms of cardiovascular health and weight loss. The only reason why people still see treadmills as their first choice of exercise equipment is that elliptical machines are a bit harder to use as they tend to tire people faster due to more intense workouts. For instance, treadmill workouts tend to be longer for most people since they don’t get easily tired with treadmills. But the scientific fact is that a shorter elliptical workout can provide more benefits than a longer treadmill workout session. Read more…

Treadmill Workouts

Treadmill workouts are becoming increasingly popular as losing weight effectively and in a sustainable manner seems to be the fitness holy grail of our time. Every day you read about new diet programs, supplements, pills and miracle workers introduced to the masses who try to lose all those extra pounds. However, the only real and sustainable solution to the weight problem is exercising. And exercising regularly! Diet programs are cool and all but it is really hard to make them a permanent part of our lives. We all tend to diet and lose some weight from time to time, only to regain all that weight (and sometimes even more) once we stop dieting.

Exercising on the other hand can easily become a part of our daily routine, and provide an excellent, lifelong opportunity for continued physical fitness. And lack of exercise does not only mean extra weight, it also brings the risk of heart diseases and a chunk of other health problems. We all have different excuses for not exercising regularly. We don’t like it, we don’t have time for it, etc. Thankfully, treadmills provide an excellent solution to most of these excuses. We can easily get our hands on a good home treadmill for a couple of hundred dollars, and then exercise at the comfort of our house every day. Spending half an hour on our treadmill workouts every day brings an outstanding return of our investment. We not only lose weight, but also eliminate many possible health risks that may be waiting around the corner. Read more…
